There were so many shrines such as this in Kyoto, as well as many other sights. However, we arrived in Kyoto a little late, and at 5pm all the tourist spots close. I definitely have to come back again before I leave.  Posted by Picasa

Wow, that's pretty impressive. Very beautiful woodwork and panel inlays.

早呑み込みをしないで下さい。

I was a TA for East Asian Art and Cinema in college. My comment was meant to be an inside joke between me and the owner of the blog, who took some East Asian Art Hist. classes under my Prof. I was mimicking the way some of my former students would analize a piece or a scene.

I should have clarified that.

Yeah, Alex. Haha. Those retards in class didn't have a clue about East Asian art, nor did they give a damn. The funny part about it is that most of them were Asian, too.

Btw, the seated bodhisattva is Kannon, right? "Kiyo""Mizu" Shrine. Shrine of the Pure Water.. Either this is a hail back to the origins of the male Kannon as the savior and protector of mariners/sailors, or a tie-in with the Shinto practice of purification through water.

Kiyomizu is one of the temples in Kyoto that juxtaposes elements from both Shinto and Buddhism. I actually saw a more femanine looking standing Kannon whose style was definitely Chinese influenced.

Nice try 'tard. It makes sense. It says "please don't make hasty statements"

to be more accurate, 早呑み込み is "hasty conclusions".
Alternately, 独り合点 can be used for "rash or hasty conclusions." Hence, "Please don't draw hasty conclusions" is accurate. 「独り合点の事をします」 would be the polite verb for of the phrase. If you check a good dictionary, there's about a dozen different ways for saying "hasty conclusions" and the "drawing of hasty conclusions".

I'm sorry. Just like you, I make mistakes in a language not my own. Please teach me how to correct that phrase.

mwahahahaa. Nobu can't speak English. I'm Japanese too, but at least I know how to use prepositions like "to".

As for TexanTommyTheDestroyer, if you're Japanese then I'm embarrassed that you’re part of my race. Fuckin’ pussy. If you’re so sensitive to those stupid comments, then why don’t you go wipe your wet vagina, you crybaby. Oh, and Alex, you shouldn’t have posted your blog link for these idiots. You’re still a moron for fucking up your Japanese in a public place, though. You and Nobu should go study together.
