I found this in front of a Pachinko parlor in Sakai. He's the man, isn't he? Not Ryu... me. This poster sure brings back memories though. Posted by Picasa

Yes, kinda does make you realize that almost all the great games that we played -and are still playing- come from the Land of the Rising Joystick.

Thanks again for showing us that you have neither a sense of humor nor irony. If you actually knew anything about contemporary Japanese consumer culture, you would understand the wit of that little tag phrase. And no, this is not something I came up with myself. It was coined by a friend who is an Assistant Producer for ATARI.

And in any case, just because I poke fun of a culture that I love and have studied for a long time, it doesn't mean that I denigrade it.

Furthermore, I understand that some of my comments make be taken offensively by nihonjin, but I can assure them that I have no malicious intent whatsoever, and that I just as liberally poke fun at American culture. Just because poke fun at j-culture, it doesn't mean that I don't appreciate or respect it.

Anyway, I think all of this has been a misunderstanding. I really don't want my friend's blog to become a silly battleground. I apologize for making statements that appeared to be like brush-offs of Japanese culture. That was not my intent. And I'm sorry for getting angry and TexanTommy. This whole thing has gotten out of hand, I'm sorry for sounding like a jerk.
